One of our clients, age 35, is convinced that her sex drive has been diminished ever since she started the New Direction program. She is wondering if that is a side effect of the New Direction products or weight loss. She has not checked with her doctor yet. She is on week 8 and has lost 26 pounds, was originally 276 pounds. Her labs have been normal, with only a slight elevation in liver enzymes. She says she simply has no interest in sex and it is becoming somewhat of a problem between her and her spouse. She has no comorbidities and takes only Aleve PRN and Cranberry Capsules daily.

Studies show improvement in sexual function with VLCDs. This is clearly atypical and unlikely related, but I would recommend transition to LCD program. —Christopher Case, MD
